Local two players; no doubling cube, stakes or remote matching.

Something to practise

When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your objective

Bear off all fifteen pieces before the opponent. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Start with a deliberate move.

How a round unfolds

  1. Roll and use the maximum legal number of dice; doubles give four moves.
  2. Enter barred pieces first.
  3. Points with at least two enemies are blocked; a lone enemy is hit.
  4. Bear off only after all pieces reach home.

Making selections and moves

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Look at the feedback after the action.

Work through an example

When only one die can be used and either is individually playable, use the larger die. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Keep the controls nearby.

An important reminder

An oversized bear-off requires no piece farther from the exit. Compare the situation with the worked example. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
